Cruz Roja Santa Elena Bingo

This event was set up by the volunteers for the community to be more exposed to the presence of the Cruz Roja in their community.
This involved a lot of preparation and work on the part of the Cruz Roja volunteers from Salinas, La Libertad, and Santa Elena.
Sponsors at all levels of the community were approached to participate.
The number and level of prizes that were donated shows that the community view of the Cruz Roja as a positive presence and is benefitting the community.
The turnout on the day exceeded what was expected on the day.
As the day progressed, the number swelled and the level of tension rose as the premium prizes were to be raffled off.
The vendor that was selling food and drinks, sold out of everything; every seat was taken.
As the daylight faded and the night sky allowed the flood lights to fill the area, people moved forward towards the podium as if being closer would increase their chance of winning the premium prizes.
The volunteers had been there all day and were feeling the veil of tiredness falling over them, as the anticipation of the crowd increased. This seemed to pep up the volunteers as they joined in with the anticipation of who would receive the grand prizes.
Once the numbers were drawn and the Bingo drew to a close, the crowd moved as one towards the exit. Cruz Roja volunteers were posted along the exit route to ensure that there were no children left or separated from their parents. A separate group of volunteers were following behind the crowd picking up the trash and stacking the chairs.
The place was returned to better than we found it for the people of Club Olympia.
A good job was carried out by all.
