appeal to the international communty

My name is Monica Espinosa democratically elected president of the Red Cross for the county of Santa Elena Ecuador.
The Red Cross has been established here for 75 years , our primary mandate is as a support organization in time of disaster.
In time of stability our roll is to educate, and provide support and first aid services to the indigenous community, looking to provide, through the use of volunteers of various levels of skills, medical and community assistance.
In 2016 the country of Ecuador was impacted by an earthquake of 7.8, which struck in the north of the country. Impacting both urban and rural areas, this in turn activated the disaster response of the International Federation of the Red Cross.
The IFRC is a coordinating body used by the international community to mobilize  aid and to assist the country in its efforts to provide rescue and recovery of the impacted area.
We are now in 2017 and the  effort of recovery is still ongoing. The Red Cross of Santa Elena has committed what resources it could to assist in the recovery effort.
By taking on this commitment, we have depleted our resources to a point where we are not able to continue to offer services to the community in which we have a presence.
We are looking to the international community to assist with the procurement of equipment through donation to assist the Red Cross Santa Elena .
Santa Elena is a town in southwestern Ecuador, and is the capital of both the province and the canton of the same name. Santa Elena, originally called Sumpa, is located on the Ecuadorian peninsula near the city of Guayaquil. It is regarded as the location of the most important and best documented archaeological site in the country.

Current state of employment in the county stands at 60% with this level of employment it is hard to place a burden of donations on this community.
Donations from the community take the for of small cash donations, the majority of donations are in the form of labour and food.
The Red Cross of Santa Elena are very grateful for the support that comes from the community, unfortunately this is not in a form that will allow for repair, maintenance and replacement of equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.

We look to the international community to assist in the procurement of medical laboratory equipment through donation which is greatly needed to monitor, maintain and improve the health of our community.
